Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, Bui Thanh Son held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Algeria, Ahmed Attaf

On July 10, as part of his participation in the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and related meetings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son held a bilateral meeting with the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During a meeting with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son congratulated Algeria on its formal accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC). Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that this would be an important milestone, creating momentum to promote cooperation in all areas between Algeria and Southeast Asian countries. He emphasized that Vietnam highly values Algeria's role in the African region and attaches importance to promoting the traditional friendship between the two countries to develop more practically and effectively.

The Algerian Foreign Minister thanked Vietnam for its support for Algeria's accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, affirming that Algeria cherishes and always attaches importance to promoting cooperation with its traditional friend Vietnam. They appreciated the effectiveness of existing cooperation projects between the two countries, particularly in the oil and gas sector, and expressed their hope for further strengthening cooperation in this area. At the same time, he emphasized that the two sides must expand their cooperation to new areas with high potential.

Regarding the direction of cooperation in the future, the two sides agreed to promote the exchange of delegations at high and all levels, thus strengthening political trust and promoting the effectiveness of existing cooperation mechanisms. Promoting cooperation projects in areas of mutual interest such as oil and gas, trade, construction, mining, pharmaceuticals, the halal industry, agriculture, etc., particularly with new ways to further improve the effectiveness of cooperation, including by promoting specific cooperation agreements and projects between the two countries.

The two sides also affirmed their willingness to coordinate and support each other in multilateral forums, particularly at the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement, and to strengthen South-South cooperation.
