Three proposals to promote people-to-people relations between Vietnam and Algeria

On June 17, 2025, in Hanoi, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Phan Anh Son, received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to Vietnam, Azeddine Bechka. During this meeting, President Phan Anh Son made three proposals aimed at promoting relations between the Vietnamese and Algerian peoples.

Three specific proposals are proposed:

Further strengthen relations between the Vietnam-Algeria Friendship Association and the Algeria-Vietnam Friendship Association. Ambassador Azeddine Bechka continues to support cooperation between the two associations, thus creating the conditions for an upcoming visit by the Algeria-Vietnam Friendship Association to Vietnam.

Strengthen coordination between the Algerian Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations in organizing people-to-people diplomatic activities.

The Union of Vietnam Friendship Organizations stands ready to coordinate and support the Algerian Embassy in Vietnam in its visits and exchanges with localities, exploring opportunities for economic, trade, and investment cooperation.

President Phan Anh Son stated, "The affection between the Vietnamese and Algerian peoples stems from the spirit of solidarity that has marked the history of the struggle against foreign invaders. Vietnam's victory in its struggle for independence has become a source of inspiration for many national liberation movements around the world, including Algeria." The establishment of the Vietnam-Algeria Friendship Association in 1986 perfectly illustrates the close ties between the peoples of the two countries. Fifteen years later, the Algeria-Vietnam Friendship Association was also established.

Speaking at the reception, Ambassador Azeddine Bechka expressed his admiration for Vietnam's achievements in economic development. He emphasized that Vietnam is a model and a source of inspiration for Algeria in terms of economic development. The Algerian government and people have always held strong loyalty to Vietnam. Currently, two avenues in Algeria bear the name of President Ho Chi Minh, a symbol of solidarity and friendship between the two peoples.

Ambassador Azeddine Bechka is confident that Vietnam will achieve its goal of becoming a high-income developed country by 2045. He hopes that the two countries will continue to promote their cooperation in the political, educational, and artistic fields, while developing new cooperation in areas where both sides have strengths and potential. Approving the three proposals of President Phan Anh Son, Ambassador Azeddine Bechka affirmed that the Algerian Embassy in Vietnam and himself will continue their close collaboration with the Union of Friendship Organizations of Vietnam for the exchange of information and the exchange of delegations, thus contributing to deepening the friendly relations between the two countries.
